About Jason Zadrozny
Jason Zadrozny is our local independent campaigner. He is the Leader of Ashfield District Council.
In 2007 he first became Leader of the Council, becoming the youngest council leader in the United Kingdom at that time, aged 26. Labour took back control in 2009.
Jason became Leader again in 2018. The Ashfield Independents swept to a huge victory in the Council elections of 2019 winning a massive 30 out of 35 seats on Ashfield District Council.
In 2021 Jason's independent team won all 10 Council seats up for grabs in Ashfield in the County Council election. Sadly for local residents the Conservatives won overall control of the Council again.
This victory got stronger in 2023 as Jason led the Ashfield Independents to another victory gaining a further 2 seats across the district.
Under Jason's Leadership Ashfield is now one of the most succesfull and best run councils in the whole Country!

Investing In Our Area
I am incredibly proud to say that in 2021 I led one of the most successful Council bids in the country securing an enormous £62.6million from the government’s Towns Deal, £6.27million from the Future High Streets Fund and £3.1million from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund in 2022. Since then we have been working with partner organisations and the Discover Ashfield board to turn ideas into reality.
Building Leisure Facilities
My Independent team have totally regenerated leisure facilities locally investing a whopping £22.5million into our leisure centres. We built a brand new centre in Kirkby complete with pools. Refurbished Lammas in Sutton including creating the new Tag Active and Soft Play zones. We also refubished Hucknall and built a new pool there too. Our new water space leisure building at Kings Mill Reserviour will open later this year and we are working on bringing new provision to Selston Parish too.
Fighting Crime Locally
Thanks to investment in cutting crime from Jason and his Independent team, our area now has the safest streets in Nottinghamshire.
Anti-social behaviour is down by 35% since Jason took over the council. His team has secured the most "Safer Streets" funding of any local council. They have used it to double CCTV locally, close dangerous alleyways and much more. Only Jason has a record of being tough on crime locally.
Improving Our Parks
Jason and his Independent team have spent the last few years rennovating our parks and play areas after decades of neglect from Labour.
Jason has had over £5million invested so far and plans to make sure every park is improved for local families to enjoy.
Protecting Green Spaces
Protecting our green spaces from greedy developers has been a 20 year fight for Jason.
Despite the threats from the Tories in Government, who are friends with big builders, Jason has fought to protect the spaces that matter to our communities.
The Conservatives keep overruling our local Councillors and granting planning permission. The only way to protect our green spaces is to make sure the Tories lose the next election.
Creating Free Events
Jason and the Independent team have brought back a number of free events to our area.
This year ASHFIELD SHOW IS BACK! Jason has organised the 2 day free event to happen again this August after Labour cancelled it.
This is on top of the special markets, food festivals, open air cinemas and fun days that will take place across the district.
